About

Emma Hiesse // based in Utrecht (Netherlands) // born in Rouen (France)

Welcome to my inner world, where pigeons can grow horns and tigers roam around Paris’ rooftops, where herons have long twisted necks and cigarette smoke becomes a stained-glass art piece of its own.

This is the result of spending years experimenting with my art to find my own voice, drawing inspiration from nature, mythological stories, Japanese folklore, magic realism and so much more. Finding ways to showcase my fascination for living beings in my images is a never-boring exercise.

As a curious person by nature, switching between techniques is a crucial part of my artistic journey. I love the playfulness of working digitally and being able to explore many options as I create a piece, but I also have a growing attachment to linocut prints and the human touch that shines through them.
